now i looked askance at the midriff bearing top worn by a girlie to Easter Sunday mass, but as others have said on here a whole LOT of the dissension as to the standards espoused on this thread can be explained by the denomination in question. Bible Belt and fundamentalist churches are going to have different standards. the tridentine Latin rite Catholic church we sometimes attend, has dress rules posted directly on the door. not only must women have their heads covered, but sleevelessness is verboten. But that is not the norm for Catholic church. you cannot hold other denominations to the standards dictated by your own.

I'd have run out to my car, grabbed my shawl, and offered it loudly and directly in front of the other churchgoers. However, I'm the kind of girl what takes the hat off men inside church.
