In answer to your post way upthread...
I've gone to Catholic church amost every week of my life, and I've never seen anyone carry in a Bible unless they were going to give a reading as a part of the mass, and wanted to use their own Bible.
The only time I've ever taken a Bible into church was for my daughter's baptism. I had asked the priest if my brother - my daughter's godfather - could do a special reading, and I wanted it to be read from my husband's great-great-grandfather's Bible.

Terayza is practing dem photo-op religion, not Catholicism. That's my take on it .. and yes, unless it is a special occasion/reason .. I've never seen catholics bring their own bible to church
The books for the readings,gospel, prayers and hyms are ALREADY there in the pew for parishioners to read from
