Skimmed much of this thread but your post re: ADD/Asperger's really caught my eye. Just found out last year that my 14 yr. old son is PDD-NOS and somewhat ADD and I can't get him to dress up for anything. After reading your post, I understand a little better.
He prefers very loose clothing and bare feet, though he obviously has to wear shoes to school and church. :)
I got him new pants for today (though, not dress pants) but he looked like he usually does, very casual. He did pull out his Homer Simpson, "This I your Brain on Donuts" shirt and have the good sense to say, "I probably shouldn't wear this." LOL (I wouldn't have let him anyway).

It can be an annoyance. Just FYI, I happened to find plain white t-shirts with NO tag (the tag info is printed on the fabric. I was thrilled! LOL!

Okay... just teasing a little. Shoes are a good idea if only because broken glass is everywhere, even church parking lots.
I was diagnosed as "hyperactive" as a kid, and in my 30's I read some Asperger related material that was also an uncomfortably close description to my own life. The clothing sensitivity was only one of many pieces that fit in that puzzle. Do a websearch for "tactile defensiveness", that's the medical term for it. Freepmail me privately if you want to discuss it more.
And help me out on this thread... adiaireton8 is driving me crazy. Help, help, I'm perseverating....
