I have learned the hard way to never get between a fool and his folly. Even if it involves family. I wouldn't waste any more time on this "relative" of yours. You can't pick your uncles but you can certainly pick who you choose to converse with. I prefer to converse with intelligent people.

Doesn't mean you can't see your uncle on Christmas and other family gatherings however. For this year's Christmas gift, I would give him some conservative-themed books. He'll probably never read them but at least you'll have the satisfaction of putting money in the pockets of the good guys while satisfying your Christmas giving obligation to your uncle.
