Another Bishop Speaks Out
To: nickcarraway
The Associated Press reported Kerry's positions have been under discussion within the Vatican amid concern about his votes to support abortion rights and stem cell research. "They are basically struggling with this, as we are," said Bishop John Ricard of Pensacola, Fla., chairman of a U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops task force created to consider how American bishops should react to Catholic politicians who don't adhere to the church's teachings.
"I'm not a church spokesman," Kerry said. "I'm a legislator running for president. My oath is to uphold the Constitution of the United States in my public life.
Hmmm, so this is just a photo-op, right? I thought so.

(Kerry said he wasn't at the '71 plot-to-kill meeting, then, he was but voted NO, now he can't recall)

I wonder if this isn't the beginning of working their way up to formal excommunication. The politicians can't say they weren't warned if it's all done in public.
What I don't like, is the "I respect the church, but..." line. Baloney. If you clain Catholicism, please follow it.
