America must remember. He advocates an immediate freeze -- followed by mandatory controls on prices, profits, dividends, wages, interestrates and rents. At a time when the plight of many Americans has been forgotten, Edward Kennedy remembers.

Tried to look up Unca Teddy's military record - and this is what Google puked. Damn near forgot about Teddy's promise that all seasoned citizens get hot meals.

Also found - Silver Star Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) - US Army, 1951-1953. That may need more confirmation. I'm sure Teddy remembers...

Senator Kennedy has proposed a tough remedy to get runaway prices under control. He advocates an immediate freeze -- followed by mandatory controls on prices, profits, dividends, wages, interestrates and rents.

Gotta love it - the problem to socialist excesses in the economy is even more socialist excesses in the economy.

Looks like Ted had both the Drunk and Stupid parts of "Fat, Drunk and Stupid" down pat all the way back in 1980.

It has become fashionable to forget, and Edward Kennedy believes that is wrong. The Democratic Party must remember. America must remember.

I'm glad America remembered--Chappaquidick!.

A blonde in every pond-VOTE KENNEDY. Nice bumper sticker.

I looked up his military record. In 1969 he achieved the rank of Admiral. He was assigned to the SS Oldsmobile. Unfortunately he sunk his vessel on its (non)maiden voyage and lost half the people on board.

Tough medicine -- for a sick economy.

Ah, economic euthanasia.

The average new home costs $57,300? How can anyone afford to buy a house at those prices?!

And Carter was widely quoted as saying of Kennedy, "I'll whip his ass!"

Carter took the price controls off oil? Didn't know that. Everything the man touched turned to lead, but it looks like in this instance someone with some common sense got through to him.

Is that anyone who doesn't really qualify for the seasoned citizen discount? (Hey, whenever I'm considered America's yout, I get jazzed...)

our diplomats were taken hostage in Iran and outside Soviet forces entered Afganistan.
"Outside" forces from the tooth fairy, Senator?

Whatsamatter, couldn't you spell the word "Communist," Senator?

Funny . . . not being able to spell "Afghanistan" didn't stop you from using that word.

Note when Carter took office in 1976, he took it after a PUB was pres. Next time Carter criticizes the Pres. this needs to be posted.

RE: Ted in the Army

(From http://www.kennedy-web.com/timeline.htm)
1951 May: Ted is caught cheating on an exam and is expelled from Harvard. He enlists in the Army and will serve for the next 16 months.

Removing the cobwebs from my memory, I thought he was drafted (Ah, the Dean Wormer prototype...).

Any way, I recall reading a piece that said his father got him duty in Paris, given the Korean problems.

And what's this garbage about 16 months?

Sounds right - but I'll wait for further confirmation.

Where was Teddy - and what does he know?

Sorry to go somewhat off-topic, but can anyone tell me where I can find the famous scene at the end of the 1980 Democratic convention? In it, Jimmy Carter is trying in vain to shake hands with Ted Kennedy, even to the point of chasing Kennedy around the platform. Thanks.
