SHIMOSUWA, JAPAN - APRIL 9: "Young men risk life and limb sliding on a tree trunk down the mountainside during the Onbashira festival April 9, 2004 in Shimosuwa, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. The festival has taken place every six years since 804. The huge timbers are used as sacred pillars for the Suwa Grand Shrines of Kamisha and Shimosha, which are re-built in Suwa City.
