"It turns out, Smash barely scratched the surface. Both the interviewees he checked out, as well as a third interviewee, Mindy Kleinberg, are members of the self-appointed Family Steering Committee for the 9/11 Independent Commission. These people are hardcore conspirazoids; they want to know whether Bush permitted the 9/11 attacks so his cronies could build an oil pipeline in Afghanistan. 9/11 widows in Ted Rall territory - it doesn't get any more ironic than that."

I personally know Mindy Kleinberg. We live in the same town and her husband Alan was a standup guy. They have 3 great kids. Mindy had a very difficult time with the death of Alan. Over a year went by and she was extremely depressed.

The reason I bring this up is not to condemn Mindy for what she is doing. My point to this is that when people are depressed and are looking for answers, there will always be people out there to play off those emotions for their own political purposes.

Look to the source of all of this. Because these are the vermin that are playing people like Mindy to get at Bush. Mindy wants answers and she got them from Condi and the administration. If she wants someone to blame, she should start by looking within. Facts.

A plane with hijackers crashed into the tower where Alan, who worked for Cantor Fitzgerald was working that morning. Three other planes crashed that day killing many more. The reason the planes were hijacked was because a security brief that was given to Senator Kerry from the chief of security at Logan airport went unheeded. Kerry listens and chosses to do something, security gets tightened up and possibly no hijacking takes place. Possibly.....

My advice would be to go ask Senator Kerry why his staff disregarded the brief and insisted that it be forwarded to the DoT. I would ask that why for eight years an administration that had the knowledge about this and allowed numerous terrorist attacks to happen, didn't have the foresight to alert the incoming administration.

I would ask why the people that have the ability to analyze this and to assist in creating new policies so that this will never happen again, choose instead to politicize this and grandstand rather than ask questions that are pertinent to the investigation.

I would ask why this is a witch hunt rather than a fact finding mission.

In the end the fact still remains. Bush was in office 233 days. During this time he had to deal with a crisis in China as well as deal with the outgoing administrations effort to make the transition easier. His predecessor had eight years to do something and chose to do nothing.

Mindy, you are a great person. Get new friends.

I was a neighbor of one of the widows. She is not a member of one of the victim's groups, to the best of my knowledge. I was refinancing her and her husbands townhouse when 9/11 happened, and we went into overdrive to get the deal done before any of the paperwork could be re-scrutinized (he worked for Cantor). We had no idea at time the victim's families would be receiving any compensation. She was at home with a newborn, and was irrationally hoping that her husband somehow got out alive.

I've since lost contact with her, but she was really devastated, and needed to be medicated. One of the guys I used to work with was the realtor who sold Jeremy Glick his house. Everywhere you went in Northern NJ, everyone had a story. In fact on 9/11, I was supposed to be a WTC #7 at 9:00AM to meet with the people at the Customs Lab, but I had left my job about 2 weeks prior to sell mortgages. If I had stayed, I would have met up with a manufacturer's rep I was travelling with at the Sphere (in the plaza between the towers) at 8:45.

I had also just driven past the WTC on my way back to Jersey the first time it was bombed.

Love life now, because you might not have it tommorrow...
