Evidence, please. What proof do you have that it's a "ploy," especially when you consider that Islam is far more virulent in its opposition to homosexuality than Christianity is ?(or, as a matter of historical record, has ever been?)

It's my opinion. There have been cases in varios places, such as phony insurance claims for fires, where incidents have been made up, a la Tawana Brawley. As to their alleged views on homosexuality, read "Sex in The Bible and the middle east" by Rafael Patai.
