If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd be leery of these nuts, especially the ring leader. Anyone who could treat a poor defenseless dog like this would probably have no problem doing much the same to humans.

Cruelty to animals is one of the warning signs of serial-killerdom. They graduate to people when animal cruelty doesn't give that thrill anymore.

I suspect that this creature will get some months of jail time and then be released. Maybe he will even get counselling to boost his "self-esteem." In a few years he will be in the news again, probably for killing a child or an elderly person in a wheelchair. Some wretched people are just wired wrong from the beginning -- no conscience. Fear of punishment might keep such a person in line, but nothing will reform him or give him a conscience.
