Along these lines, and I am serious, if someone did this to one of my pets, and I hunted down the perps and beat them to death with a baseball bat or a tire iron, how many Freepers on a jury would vote to convict me of murder? I really want to know.

It would depend on how long it took you to hunt him down. If it was longer than seeming impulsive, I would vote to convict. However heinous this moster's act was, human life is worth more than a dog's life.
