Rush found an archived article that said Dodd was quoted in saying "If it was a democratic leader (that said what Lott said), we would have called for the immediate resignation of without any question whatsoever."
TIME FOR DODD TO TAKE HIS OWN ADVICE.

When Sen. Dodd was paying a tribute to Robert Byrd, he said that Byrd would have been a great president throughout our country's history--from its inception, through the Civil War, through today.
When asked further about these comments, he refused to refute them. He still stands by them.

Little background info:
from
http://washingtontimes.com/upi-breaking/20040407-021034-5250r.htm In a speech on the Senate floor last Thursday marking Sen. Robert Byrd's 17,000th vote in the body, Dodd said the West Virginia Democrat, member of the Ku Klux Klan before taking office and opponent of the 1964 Civil Right Act, "would have been right during the great conflict of Civil War in this nation."
...
The comments were made as part of large praise of Byrd's great service as a Senator, which Dodd said, "would have been right at anytime."

He was gushing about the virtues of Sen. Robert Byrd (D-KKK) and said that regardless of what historical time Byrd might have been a senator, he always would have been on the right side of the issues of the day. He even specifically mentioned the Civil War. Then, instead of saying "I messed up" he gave some indignant response back to people calling him on his flub. A real class act, that Sen. Dodd.

A demoncRAT leader, huh? Bobby "Ku Klux Klan" Byrd did worse than Trent Lott (who actually did nothing) and Byrd is still one of the leaders of the demoncRATS. In fact Byrd is doing his thing by gobbling up billions of taxpayer dollars for more transportation causes in WV to take the place of the noticeable lack of industrices in the state. In fact, the WV state govt is the largest employer. Has anyone called for Byrd's resignation? Emphatically no. DemoncRATS--hypocrisy at its zenith! Resign Dodd for your hypocrisy and lies.

Dodd is such a horses patute. He's afraid of his own shadow and couldn't make a living outside of government. He's a weenie like the rest of the dems. So he won't step down. He'll have to go out with finger nails scraping the carpet as the pull him out of the Capitol.

I blame Lott and the R's for that. He should have stood tall and been supported. Lott should have said, "I was saying something nice about a guy at his hundredth birthday, I didn't mean anything by it. And he was a democrat when he was a segregationist."

Dopey Dodd while drooling praises upon doddering dodo Byrd, committed a politically incorrect faux pas, more accurately racisest than the one made by Lott while praising Strom Thurmond. Will the dems demand that Dodd be doomed to doing penance and demoted as they did with Lott? Likely not.
Double standards dealt by double dealing democrats, do defend a Dodd, and never demand that he repent as they did to Trent. Nor will we hear a hue and cry from one single offended black Girl or guy or from the NAACP. Deaf and dumb the media dames and dudes will be about Crissy Dodd's mis-deed.
No one will ever hear Dodd say he's sorry, but we all know he is.
