"They kept the music going and brought out the clowns,"

Kind of the same thing the demo"RATS" will do at their convention this summer in Boston.

...still wearing his sequined leotard...

First person in history to appreciate the butt ventilated hospital gown.

I remember years ago, during the disco craze, some guy in San Francisco hurt himself on the dance floor. They rushed him to the hospital still wearing his skin tight polyplastic disco pants. When he got to the emergency room, they had to cut his pants to get to the injury. They found he had a large salami taped to his leg, causing a strategic bulge in his tight pants. I have to believe the hardened ER nurses had some fun with that.

I took my kids to the circus once. We sat next to the entrance where the performers came on - not everyone had the same view. The 'bear tamer' was getting ready to come on when suddenly 'Smokey' took a bite out of the back of his leg - just below the knee, but above the boot. His pants were slightly shreaded so he quickly tied them over the wound, but blood was flowing into his boot.

Suddenly they announced him, he went on and performed (an abreviated show I believe). As he was walking off next to us, it appeared his boot was topping off with blood as he limped and the clowns rushed him off.

The show must go on ...

A high-wire circus daredevil miraculously cheated death yesterday after plummeting 30 feet to the ground before a crowd of thousands of screaming kids and parents at Madison Square Garden.

Uh, I hate to ruin a good story, but I made a call on a roofer that had fallen over thirty-five feet and ended up with a couple of broken ankles. Also, if the line was thirty feet above the ground and he grabbed it and slowed himself down, it makes the fall closer to 25 or 24 feet. It would be fairly unusual if all of his body landed between the mats (assuming he was average size, part of him had to hit the mats, unless he put himself flat and landed on his side).

In short, the accident, while certainly frightening to people, and not something I would care to go through, is a very survivable accident for a young healthy person. The opening paragraph claiming the survival was miraculous is over the top. The injuries are about what you would suspect from this kind of fall.
