The Army is a little touchy about that one.
At LAST they have seen the error of their training! No more, I was only a cook or only a mechanic not a soldier! If you send them to a war zone - they had better know how to shoot that rifle!
Hoo, boy, do I remember the "What? me take a company and plug that gap in the perimeter? I'm a staff weenie, not a line puke" attitude" even among officers. I guess it was a non "combat branch" thing.
