Does anyone think that if there wasn't this attitude and the media had come to us when they heard about this new strategy late last year that it might could have been thwarted? I'm a journalist by trade. And with respect, I believe our military wouldn't knowingly allow such a thing to happen, even to those who don't respect them. Captivity at the hands of this enemy shouldn't be wished on anyone.
Still, I do believe that our press/media has a duty, especially in time of war, not to take actions that will harm our troops. This should be self-evident, and the fact that it isn't to some people makes the adversarial relationship you describe less than surprising.
Nice to have a fellow journalist in the Canteen Col.
Are you print of Broadcast? (I'm broadcast by trade)
I've been looking for a print guy to look at some of the stuff I did in Baghdad and tell me what I can do to improve it.
Nice to have you in the canteen too.
One of our jobs is to protect the media when we escort them around the military. I would protect one of them if we came under attack like I would one of my fellow soldiers.
Too bad I can't say honestly that most of the ones over there would return the favor.
