Have we even repsonded to the killings of the 4 Americans yet that STARTED this?From what I have read, we've gone into Fallujah like a big dog today and arrested many of the participants of that attack (there are downsides to having your mug on TV when committing atrocities). I think it would be a mistake to engage in full-scale retaliation that would kill hundreds of innocents - we still have public opinion in Iraq on our side, and we need to not overdo any response to an action.
The dustup with the Sadrites is a separate issue - it's been a long time coming, and we need to destroy that militia sooner rather than later.
