Forgive my ignorance, but with all the assets we have available [warthogs, tanks, spectres and attack choppers], how in the hell can we suffer "heavy" casualties from what is nothing more than a bunch of gangsters....UNLESS of course we weren't using ALL of those assets for P C REASONS!!!

I heard Shep say heavy fighting-not heavy casualties. Said the report of casualties has come from a pool reporter and is not confirmed yet. FWIW.

that's what I fear is happening, exactly what you posted.

"...from what is nothing more than a bunch of gangsters I believe enemy forces are using crew-served weapons. I also read that there may be use of "technicals" by enemy forces, which would give them some limited mobility for some of their heavier weapons.

Forgive my ignorance.... FWIW, we're all ignorant of what's really going on. The Marines do not release details very readily, and we have no idea how many casualties are being suffered, nor do we have much info about what our side is using or doing in the fighting.
The last thing we need is for people on this thread to run around screaming and waving our arms about PC, butt-kicking, and all manner of crap.
It would behoove you to recall that it is U.S. Marines who are engaged in battle. They are Bad-Ass Mother F***ers who know very well how to obliterate the bad guys.
Calm down, and have faith in our fine troops.
