LOL!! That one really jumped out at me as soon as I saw the photo -- especially the woman on the left with the eye-holes in her burka. And the one in the middle with her nose poking against hers.

>The fashion industry ... is relentlessly sexualising girls as young as eight, ... giving them a jaded, sexually wise image at odds with their dewy skin and innocent eyes
>>...I saw a little girl, not more than five, wearing just these shorts last year. ... How could any mother or father permit a little girl to wear such
I've seen little girls,
ten or eleven, who had
multiple earrings
all around their ears,
and even some little girls
with what looked like real
tattoos. If fashion
"expresses" what an adult
feels, I think it's fine
and people should dress
flashy or plain based on their
personalities.
But are parents so
hopelessly mind-dead they don't
understand that kids
aren't adults yet,
that for children fashion's not
self-expression, but
a kind of message
the parents send their children
about looks and life?
I'm conflicted, here,
because if I see, say, a
college girl looking
sexy, I assume
it's self-expression at work.
But I hate thinking
it might be someone
who just grew up being "taught"
that that's how "girls" dress...

fyi, last summer at Rememberence Weekend, a member brought his new spouse to PL.
she was a SURVIVOR of Auschwitz and said: "this is just the same sort of place!"--- then she collapsed weeping in front of the memorial to our martyrs.

call me an old foggy if you will, BUT as a the proud father of 2 adopted daughters, now grown & gone (SOB!), i AGREE with the author.
my MOST UN-favorite teeshirt i've seen lately was worn in a mall near here, by a young matron (pushing a stroller!), which said:
I'M THE KIND OF GIRL YOUR MOTHER WARNED YOU ABOUT!
i assume she meant: slut????
