The 105mm howitzer mounted on the Stryker has a range of 24 km with regular boat tail projectiles and 30 km with base bleed projectiles. Yes it can shoot US 105mm howitzer projectiles, but shoots them out to from 17.5 to 21.5 km. It has a 57 caliber tube and is able to traverse 360 degrees. It has an inertial navigation unit with GPS backup and is ready to fire when it stops. It was recently flown on-board a C-130 from Eglin AFB, FL to Fort Sill, OK.(over 900 miles) It took 6 minutes to drive it off and it was firing on the range within 19 minutes.

The Stryker Howitzer is a development led by GDLS incorporating the DENEL (South Africa) 105mm Howitzer and ammunition. The DENEL 105mm Howitzer was developed with expierience obtained from the G5 and G6 Howitzers made for the South African Army and several other countries.

See the link and the extract below from LIW's (subsiduary of DENEL) website, posted last year.

"Both General Dynamics and Denel are funding this work dedicated to building a wheeled 105-mm artillery demonstrator. Denel is developing the turret and cannon subsystems for the demonstrator. General Dynamics is doing the systems integration and modification of the demonstrator's chassis, a LAV III, eight-wheeled vehicle."
