WASHINGTON (Talon News) -- Last week, radio talk show host G. Gordon Liddy told Paul Begala and Tucker Carlson of CNN's Crossfire that he would like "a shot at Bill O'Reilly," after he was asked what conservative would he most like to take on during the 'rapid fire' segment of the show.
This came a day after Liddy appeared on Deborah Norville Tonight and said, "O'Reilly is an embarrassment to our side," answering questions regarding O'Reilly's style on radio and television.
Liddy's remarks were made during interviews with the veteran host alongside Al Franken, a host of the new liberal network, Air America. In a reference to a confrontation last year at a book fair between O'Reilly and Franken, he said, "O'Reilly is no good at radio and part of that reason is because his most nuanced response to a complex question is "SHUT UP."
During the live CNN broadcast, O'Reilly's television producer reportedly contacted Liddy's publicist and requested that he be on Friday's show to discuss his comments but only if he apologized.
Liddy responded, "Tell Bill to pound sand, I'm not apologizing for anything."
O'Reilly's producer subsequently withdrew the offer to appear, according to sources.
Liddy summed up the controversy saying, "Bill did what all bullies do, he ran when someone stood up to him. I found this to be true of bullies as a child and I found it to be true in prison."

I'm on O'Reilly's side. I don't know who G. Gordon Liddy is, but I don't appreciate his taking Al Frankentraitor's side. O'Reilly is consistently against the invasion from Mexico. I would like him a little bit better if he did a segment on the destruction of American industry, but he gave some lip service to it when bringing light to the outsourced ketchup jobs.
Is that really Liddy in that picture, billorites? He's basically putting his penis and his rear end on the flag. That says a lot.

Can O'Reilly really be considered a true conservative? Oh please! He's like a piece of dirty gum on the bottom of you shoe!

OK, I don't know if this was posted already, but Larry Elder had a good joke-- I'll try it from memory:
Two boys in Boston playing catch with a baseball outside and a Pit bull attacks the youngest one. The other boy quickly grabs the dog by its neck and twists the head, killing it. A reporter is nearby, seeing the incident and immediately runs up to the boy who saved the life of his friend.
The reporter opens his laptop computer and begins typing: "Brave Red Sox fan saves life of child being attacked by vicious dog"
The boy says he is a Houston Astros fan, not a Red Sox fan. The reporter says, "Oh, I thought you were a Red Sox fan because you live here in Boston. Oh well.."
The reporter then changed the title to: "Kerry supporter bravely saves his young friends life after vicious dog attack".
The boy says, "No, I like Bush- not Kerry". The reporter says, "I just thought that because you were from this state...well, ok".
The reporter then deletes and starts over, typing: "Mean S.O.B. Bush supporter kills beloved family pet".

What I don't get is that Westwood One is stating firmly that Liddy is misrepresenting O'Reilly's radio ratings. So who's telling the truth here?

Please don't post these pic's, you're scaring the kids. Imho, this is a carefully crafted ploy to gin up both show's ratings.

Well, I wouldn't consider O'Reilly a conservative like, say, Sean Hannity or Rush. But he does have some fairly conservative views. But the liberals hate O'Reilly, so I to go by the doctrine "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." That's why I hate the fact that the G-Man and O'Reilly are feuding. The people taking the most pleasure out of this are the Libs.

Liddy is a FANATIC!!! about the invasion from Mexico. Gordon is most likely more conservative than O'Reilly. I find it hard to watch O'Reilly because I get the feeling he's more interested in promoting O'Reilly than getting at the truth of a particular matter. He's can be informative and positive at times, but as many posters here are correctly asserting, he is a pompous ass much of the time. His "disagreement" with Franken was revealing in a negative way. Shouting down an ideological opponent does not score points with me.

Liddy would destroy O'Reilly. It's a shame that O'Reilly is associated by some with conservatism, because he's just another raving populist with NO coherent, consistent ideology.
I don't know, but he seems like a Perot voter to me. And I can't stand to listen to him "debate" anything with anyone. He compensates for his half-thought-out, incomplete, weak arguments by shouting at the top of his lungs and adopting the demeanor of impatient superiority. He's pretty hard to take.

Damned if I know, or care. I'm just bothered that Liddy went and supported Air[Hate]America on its first day. Yeah, I know it's all business, but shocking nonetheless.

Can O'Reilly really be considered a true conservative? No. O'Reilly is a populist. I would put him a bit to the right of Jim Hightower, but anyone on a scale with Hightower is irrelevant to me.

I alway's thought O'Reilly was a blowhard too. A semi-conservative Michael Moore. All fluff no substance

Oh. I don't know what to say because my first impressions of Liddy consisted of him joking around with Franken and that picture of him with an American flag speedo which I saw posted a few days ago already. I've been conditioned to dislike him I guess.

I listen to liddy, but am mad at him for running to the scum bag al frankin. I am no longer going to tune in to him, also he bothers me when he acts like the "NATURES YOUTH" thing is a news story. Some times Bill is a jerk but I still kinda like him.

I'm not interested in the feud. I'm not interested in Bill O'Reilly's political independence, or in criticizing him for promoting himself.
I think BO is good for the side of truth. The show has great ratings and is powerful - and that means his steadfast advocacy against closet socialism and secularist cultural mayhem gets wide exposure.

Which talk Radio shows are at the top of the ratings?
Liddy and O'Reily shows are not near the top of the heap. Neither show is a pimple on Rush or Hannitys rump.
What does a syndicator do when he has two shows that are not doing as well as many others? He tries to come up with a way to increase both audiences is what!! I'll give you a clue. Both of these shows are owned by the same syndicator, and they need an inexpensive way to get more listeners.
The oldest and most tested way is to start a feud between the two hosts. That way some of Liddy's audience will tune in to hear what O'Reily says about Liddy and some of O'Reily's audience tunes in to hear what Liddy says about O'Reilly, Both shows get a bit more audience.
My Dad used to say there is one born every minute. But after reading this thread, I am convinced it occurs more frequently than that..
