Better check out posts #24, #60, and #158.

I don't think you remember what you think you remember!

If this is so, why are you posting here?

C'mon. I've seen you elsewhere on FR. Your verbal/reasoning skills are better than that. You must be having a bad day, or your teenage son is posting on your computer.

I've got no beef with you.

And now for the rest of the story.

Here's the part they are keeping from you: The reporter had a cell phone to his ear as he was asking the question!

Could it be that when the President asked "Who are you talking to?" that it really meant "Who are you talking to - me or the person on the cell phone?" and not "How dare you call me 'sir'?"

Don't let them tell you there's not media bias!

What's wrong with using "Sir" instead of Mr. President

What's wrong with using Mr. President, when addressing...the President.

I see nothing wrong with calling the President 'Sir'.

You see something wrong with calling the President 'Mr. President.'

>>>>>However, I also don't get why cops et al., address the dregs that they arrest as "sir" or "gentlema(e)n". What a perverted use of the apellations.<<<<

I address the young criminals I deal with collectively as "gentlemen" and singularly as "cadet" or Mr. ____" (we're at a regimented facility). I've decided that it would serve no purpose to address them as "weasels", "lizards", "thugs" or worse. I expect them to act civilized, and it sort of sets the tone. And I invariably receive respect back, unlike those who persist in calling them derogatory names. I learned years ago that when you make it personal, you lose your edge.

To demand the respect due the OFFICE is not kingly. I daresay they never addressed Clinton as other than Mr. President. Believe me, the media (for the most part) mean to denigrate this president at every chance--esp. AP, Reuters. To let disrespect to the office slide would not be wise, but would look careless and "anything goes".

As for the military men calling him "sir", he is their Commander in Chief. They customarily address superior officers by their rank or sir or maam.

In case you think these peole who either hate, despise, or belittle the President just make mistakes and don't really mean it, you wouldn't believe the lengths they go to to belittle .

In the Smithsonian, the display of First Lady gowns is in a huge case on a main floor with a marked display. Most of them, including Hillary's have been tucked in to make them look perfectly fitted--Hillary's looks about a size 8--do yo really believe that? Laura Bush's gown, the red one. is stuck in a corner on another floor. Instead of being on a mannequin, it is on a sewing dummy--headless and armless. The arms are stuffed FULL so that the sleeves hang down like sausages, and the body is wrinkled because the dummy is not properly adjusted. Her matching coat is displayed in the same way. In case you think the experts who displayed the others didn't know what they were doing, please contact me, as I have a truckload of gold nuggets I'm selling for a quarter apiece.

Sorry about the long post, but this still rankles with me. I know the sorriness of libs and reporters in particular.

NOT GOOD ENOUGH WITH THE PRESS ATTACK DOGS.

THEY NEED TO KEEP IN MIND that they are addressing the ELECTED representative leading about 300,000 people. He deserves, but more importantly, the country deserves him to be treated with respect tailored specifically to the rank and office he holds.

Order and priorities are still important. He is NOT an average SIR. He is THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The discussion can start AFTER that realization and acknowledgement.

Bush did not do it out of arrogance. He did it for the office and the respect the office deserves and must have.

Egalitarian Kommunism is not our Republic regardless of how much the jokers on the other side are trying to make it that way.

I had read the same thing, the AP reporter had a cell phone buried in his ear, and the President possibly was not entirely sure if the idiot was trying to ask him a question or not.
Also, didn't this happen several days ago?

Not entirely clear was whether Bush was ticked off because Yost didn't call him "Mr. President" -- or if Bush thought Yost was talking to someone else on his mobile phone. [Update: I am now told that Yost had a phone to his ear. That would tick me off, too.]

See the transcript in post 39. It appears Bush initiated the exchange with the AP reporter, rather than the reporter screaming at him as he left the podium.

I agree with your assessment; however, I was describing another incident in an attempt to show a pattern. The President is regularly on the receiving end of hostilities from leftist media hacks regularly attending his press conferences.

I hate explaining this once again, but you've read what some other poster has attributed to me, but I did not say. Go back and read the thread, especially my first post.

Not only did I not say GWB acted "kingly", I complimented him as a humble and gracious man. Yet somehow, one very juvenile Freeper completely mischaracterized what I said then went on to unjustly criticize me based on his misunderstanding.
