Does anyone know if DNA tests are planned?

New Research Indicates Turin Shroud May Be From Holy Land

Excerpt:

Last year microbiologist Leoncio Garza-Valdes reported he had isolated the DNA of ancient bloodstains on the shroud, and identified the type as AB, consistent with a Jewish male.

~snip~

Other articles about this scientist quote him as explaining the DNA is very degraded so the testing results are limited.

Thanks for the link. Good article. For those who are interested, PBS is presenting:

SECRETS OF THE DEAD / SHROUD OF CHRIST? /
Wednesday, April 7th at 8 PM

The latest evidence suggests that the Shroud of Turin, Christianity's most treasured relic, does, indeed, date from the time of Christ.

"Secrets of the Dead" examines the shroud in light of new bacterial clues plus a recently discovered style of stitching previously seen only once before -- amid the ruins of the Jewish citadel of Masada, a town destroyed by the Romans in 74 A.D.

Times may vary by city so check local PBS schedules.
