TALLAHASSEE · South Floridians pushing for a touch-screen voting paper trail are steamed about a state Senate proposal that they say runs counter to their cause.
Tucked into the 90-page proposal (SB 3004) is a decree that "a manual recount may not be conducted of undervotes on touch-screen machines," which are used in South Florida's three big counties.

If you go read the article, here's a
link^ to the printer-friendly verison (less graphica and no popups), it's interesting that it's the RATS that are pushing for paper ballots.

"a manual recount may not be conducted of undervotes on touch-screen machines,"...
Umm, my understanding is that an undervote is when no vote is cast for a particular office. In 2000 they were looking for hanging chads and dimples. Do they want some way to record touchscreen fingerprint smudges?

I don't vote every position on my ballot. I do it on purpose. I'm for not recounting undervoted ballots. It is actually an insult to think someone would assume I didn't know what I was doing. And if I didn't know what I was doing, it actually should remain uncounted. It's all called due diligence.
