Download violators at UA can be ID'd

TUCSON - A federal judge has ruled that the recording industry can force the University of Arizona to identify four people accused of using its computers to violate copyright law by downloading music.

Federal Magistrate Jacqueline Marshall signed the order allowing recording companies to subpoena the university to provide the names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses for four defendants referred to in the lawsuit.

Well, it looks like our courts won't be using Canadian court decisions as a precedent, after all.

Of course, last time this was discussed, I probably made more enemies in three days than I've made in my whole lifetime, so perhaps I should shy away from this one.
