"Asked if it is the kind of weapon that could be deployed against the raging mob that assassinated four U.S. security contractors in Fallujah yesterday, Col. Alexander responded, "Yes.""

I think carpet bombing the outskirts of a renegade town with B-52s and a few daisy cutters around bedtime to light up the night sky and blow out windows will have a stronger psychological effect.

It doesn't bother the eyes, but bearded or mustached men must fear the effect on their genitals. Partial sterility is rumored in whiskered men that got zapped.

phasers set on "stun", eh?I think it is more like the "agonizer" device used in numerous Star Trek episodes.

I wonder if it cooks evenly or if you get those troublesome cold spots.

Yeah, but what would happen if the Military could have this "beam" envelop a 180 or 360 deg sweep continuously, as opposed to a direct point and shoot effect.
Especialy if it could go out 300-500 yrds.
The Iraqis not have any idea why they would start to "cook" if they got to close to a military vehicel or convoy, they can't see a microwave.

These guys gotta be ticked that they can't shoot back.
To: OXENinFLA
I guess youre right. It would make for an interesting show anyway!
To: teldon30
Gee, I would hate to be wearing high-explosives and a detonator when a high-powered microwave beam hit me.
That might ruin my whole day.
