KARACHI, Pakistan - Gunmen stormed a police station Sunday in the southern city of Karachi, killing five police in a dawn attack, authorities said. One attacker died in the return fire. The assault hit a police station near the airport at Karachi, Pakistan's largest city and the frequent scene of extremist violence.
Ten gunmen entered the station and shouted, "We will not leave any police alive," Officer Abdul Khaliq Shaikh said.
The assailants opened fire, killing two police officers and three constables, Shaikh said.
Two of the police officers fired back, killing an attacker, he said.
Authorities had no immediate information on the motive behind the attack. "Of course this is terrorism, but we don't know what kind yet," Shaikh said.

"Of course this is terrorism, but we don't know what kind yet," Shaikh said. I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's probably Islamic terrorism.

I do believe the government of our NATO-class ally is in over its head. There is no substitute for going into Pakistan ourselves and taking Al Qaeda out. But I guess we'll just sit at the frontier and read news stories about how they escaped to parts unknown--or took over the government of Pakistan.
