Bob Faust has officially announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Colorado's 4th Congressional District.

Faust, who said his approach to resolving issues is grounded in equality, impartiality, integrity and fiscal responsibility, has identified four primary issues he is determined to address at the national level:

National health care for all Americans, national college programs eliminating in- and out-of- state tuition rates, equal rights and redefining the rights of those between the ages of 18 and 20.

Faust has until June 1 to file enough signatures to place his name on the primary ballot and to challenge incumbent Rep. Marilyn Musgrave for the nomination.

Faust is the vice president for Colorado Quality Consultants Inc. and has lived in Johnstown with his family for 16 years. He said he sees himself as one who can represent all the people, as opposed to "merely promoting the interests of an entrenched, albeit powerful, few."

The 4th Congressional District covers 18 counties, including Weld, Larimer, Morgan, Logan, Yuma, Cheyenne and Bent.

To address health care, which Faust sees as the single defining issue facing American society today, his plan, funded through a restructure of payroll taxes, would help provide all Americans basic medical, dental and vision coverage, annual physicals and immunizations and the freedom to choose between brand name and generic drugs. In addition, the plan would give veterans the choice of using local medical facilities as opposed to being required to use VA facilities.

Faust said he would also ensure all Coloradans have the ability to receive a quality education through his national university program. Implementation of Faust's plan would allow states to fund K-12 schools and junior colleges by recovering money through land grant provision laws, he said. Further, the plan would also create a system of national colleges and universities and would eliminate "in-state" and "out-of-state" tuition.

As a proponent for equal rights, Faust supports legislation and constitutional interpretation which provides equal rights for every American, regardless of age, sex, race, religion, ethnicity or sexual orientation.

Other issues Faust plans on tackling are paying off the national deficit, holding government accountable for its expenditures and redefining the recognized adult age from 21 to 18.

Mods, I know this is a few days old, but please leave it in breaking. It hasn't come out yet and it's super-important! If Faust ousts Musgrave, the FMA will likely be finished for good!!

Don't let this happen! Colorado FReepers, volunteer for her campaign! All FReepers, if you are able, please donate something to her!

This guy is running for the REPUBLICAN nomination? Given his retoric he sounds like a Moveon.org activist.

Republicans don't need to make a Faustian bargain on this issue.
