O'Reilly-Liddy Feud at Westwood

Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly and nationally syndicated radio host G. Gordon Liddy are blasting each other in a mini-feud ignited by media libs Paul Begala and Al Franken.

The stone throwing apparently started Thursday night, when Begala, hosting "Crossfire," asked Liddy about why his Westwood One colleague O'Reilly "hasn't done very well on radio."

Citing a year-old Drudge report, Liddy said the top-rated cable TV host's radio ratings are "in the toilet."

"He really doesn't do radio well at all," the G-Man added.

Friday afternoon, Liddy guested on Al Franken's radio show, where both hosts took shots at O'Reilly. [To the astonishment of fans and foes alike, Franken announced that he was a personal friend of Liddy's, referring to him throughout simply as "G."]

Friday night, O'Reilly fired back, reading a press release about the brouhaha from Westwood, which syndicates both their shows:

"During appearances on two cable news programs yesterday Westwood One personality G. Gordon Liddy made statements about 'The Radio Factor with Bill O'Reilly' which are totally inaccurate and in no way represent the views of Westwood One.

"Westwood has so advised Liddy and forwarded to him the true facts about the program. In less than two years on-the-air 'The Radio Factor' has become one of the most successful talk shows in the country. In addition to its high ratings and large audience, the program is also a home run with advertisers."

The statement didn't much impress Liddy, who said he stands by his original comments.

If Falwell is using the media to look like an ass, just who is allowing him to do it?

The media thrives on people who act like asses. Falwell is a gold mine.

So your contention is that Falwell is corrupt and not an idiot. Actually I agree with you.

O'Reilly has a radio program????

Same question from here. Liddy's observation seems fair...

Liddy really thinks he's some kind of super-stud...ten bucks says that it's a thong.

The G-Man didn't back down from fight with a black cellmate when he was imprisoned in the DC jail. I don't know about you but that is some kind of gutsy. If you want to call that being a super-stud be my guest.

If this feud ever gets physical, I have NO DOUBT who would come out the winner. You just don't want to tangle with the G-Man. He's got the killer eyes. Imagine if the G-Man ever stepped up to a urinal in a public restroom and spotted John Dean next to him. I imagine he would pull an Ed Sullivan on Dean.

Bill's feud with Franken sure ignited Franken's success. For someone who endlessly dishes it out, Bill sure has thin skin.

Yes, his skin is very thin indeed. O'Reilly has become a huge bloviator, incapable of taking ANY criticism. His smirk is hard to take.

You just DON'T want to get into a fight with the G-Man. Maybe they should have an Ultimate Challege competition on cable.

The powerfull OZ behind the curtain, Bill O'Reilly does not like to be mocked! He is the all powerfull conservative on radio, all hail Bill O'Reilly!

Personally, I love it when Neal Boortz rips O'Reilly, it gets under his skin, then he does another typically stupid thing (a la Liddy) to give everyone some humor.

If it weren't on so early out here in the west, I devised a new Laura Ingraham drinking game. Every time you hear the word "elite" you have to chug.

I'd last 32 minutes.....

You gotta be kidding, "Liddy and Hill" is the worst show on phoenix radio. Their ratings have been tanking lately, the show is like some lame frat boy gross out contest. Brainless twaddle, I'd rather listen to (gad!) Przzztn Wzztmoreland than those two idiots.

I'll take Liddy over O'Reilly any day. I'll even take Franken over O'Reilly. And I really mean that. O'Reilly has nothing going on in his head but thoughts of how great he is.

I get a kick out of the G-Man, but, boy, that picture is a beaut. His son though, is pretty good looking. O'Reilly is a trip too. Agree with him fairly often, disagree with him and want to strangle him, just about equally often. I guess you just have to take the bad points along with the good sometimes, and there's always the on/off button on both the TV and radio, when your limit for bloviation and baloney has been reached.

When the announcement was made this past week, the program director said O'Reilly just can't compete with Rush.

??

Here in the Philadelphia market, O'Reilly's show is on after dinner sometime - - I think it starts at 8:00pm. Are you saying that O'Reilly's radio show is normally broadcast live during the same hours as Rush???
That's insanity....
