...much as I have always respect President Reagan I always get a sick feeling in my stomach when I think about his administration's trading of arms for hostages in Lebanon.

Actually, we SOLD arms to Iran, for use against Iraq. And then diverted some of the proceeds to help the Nicaraguan "contras" in their fight against the Communists and their Democrat allies in the US Senate, who cut off their funding.

Give your stomach a break and see it for what it was.

Yes, the weapons were SOLD to Iran but the deal specified that the hostages in Lebanon be freed. I really do not think the Iranians gave a hoot about the Contras but saw the deal as a trade for hostages.
