I believe that Vern Kennedy started doing polling for "GA Jimmy" Carter in 1976. I met him once in the middle 1970s. don't think his Democrat ties are that strong, but I could be wrong. I still think that he would state his opinion regarding his own polls regardless of personal partisan feelings.

----Bush will win Louisiana but unless his coattails are very strong, a Democrat should pick up John Breaux's seat.----

Presidential candidates don't have coattails in Louisiana, at least, not when it counts. Thank our open primary system. Vitter may benefit from Bush in the November 2 primary -- but since Bush won't be at the top of the ticket in the December runoff, Democrats reliably coalesce around their primary winner, the LA GOP's recent track record is somewhere beneath pathetic, and most Louisiana voters have the median IQ of a cheese sandwich, it's gonna be uphill all the way for Vitter.

I fully expect Chris John to be my next senator. The little weasel is already my congressman, and the state Republicans couldn't even find a candidate to put up against him in '02. Meanwhile, Governor She-Thing will probably have her Democrat knee-breaking squad out to deal with Kennedy before he can cause too much of an intra-party rift.

Kennedy started his polling in Pineville, LA, where he was a Louisiana College faculty member. Then he relocated to Pensacola, FL, perhaps about 1980.

Let's hope Blanco keeps pushing for a pay raise.

On a grassroots level this is a great thing to rub in the average Louisiana democrat's face at the water cooler.

First she tells us she'll get business in, then when she's elected she demands we keep high taxes on them because we can't afford it while literally the next day saying she should get a pay raise. And you want her candidates in office?

[the LA GOP's recent track record is somewhere beneath pathetic]

Losing the La-05 to Rodney Alexander was pathetic. Bush might need to spend extra time in LA to win not only the open Senate Seat, but also the open House seats of Chris John and Billy Tauzin.
