Thank you for your kind words.

I have a child with a mental illness. They have never done such a thing as this, but they have done many unexplainable things. It is a heart breaking condition. My child too, was an honor student, talented artist and really had the world by the tail. Sadly, they are now, just barely able to function. It has turned our world up side down.

I feel very sorry for these parents. I know all the denial and heart ache they are in for.

Most of the posts in this thread are not helpful, but your words do help.

I read somewhere that there is a very fine line between genius and insanity. Most people with advanced minds have other "issues" as well, sadly. Albert Einstein is a prime example. He didn't know and couldn't learn how to tie his shoe laces or make simple knots. That is just an example of the kinds of problems he suffered. Take solace in the fact that your child borders on genius.

Mental illness always seems to grab onto the brightest and best. I have a genius IQ friend who had a breakdown in college. Said he couldn't stop his thoughts...no sleep, etc. He's a productive member of society now. Has a family and doing well. Don't give up.
