Please do not blame her family. They did what any family would and should have done when discovering a relative missing. If you saw them on TV while all this was going on, you'd know they were devastated. Can't you at least empathize with them?

Hidly I can empathize with them to a certian point as enabling allows misdeeds like this to happen and or fester.
I am sure this family has a laundry list of covering for their sister brother daugher grandaughter throughout her young life. ENABLING NEVER HELPS NEVER WILL so hopefully the entire family will get some help.

Yes, but unless they are doing everything they can to get her to tell the truth instead of supporting her in her lies than that empathy would disappear very quickly.
