This is one big game of Telephone.

She never said she was abducted from her apartment. That's what police speculated about what happened for four days.

After police/FBI interviewed her, the mumbling asst. police chief this morning said she clarified that she exited the building, and was later kept against her will.

Looking back through google on various local reports turns up the interesting facts that Audrey was a three-year National Honor Society H.S. student, captain of her H.S. girls' basketball and volleyball teams and a member of the Homecoming Court.

Further googling turned up a UW campus newspaper report which said after Audrey was assaulted in February, she called her roommate who took her to the hospital where she was treated for a black eye.

Campus authorities were aware of the assault.

But now she's a lying schizophrenic.

I read the thread, knew what you were talking about and still think it sounded like a "I told you so" statement, which seldom plays well.

It was a sarcastic statement made to a couple of individuals who I knew wouldn't reply to it.

Have you been taking your meds?

Wow! How funny! That proves you're not heartless and ignorant about mental illness. You can joke about it!

She could have been in the National Honor Society, cheerleading, etc. in high school and be mentally ill today- as has been said on numerous posts, many mental illnesses such as schizophrenia manifest themselves in one's late teens and early twenties.

You can give yourself a black eye.

OK. Filing a false police report. I can buy into that.

To be honest, my initial reaction to this situation was that she should spend a long time in jail. The book should be thrown at her. I was concerned with potential arrests of innocent individuals. Then the point was made that she didn't call the police. Therefore, she didn't start the brew ha, ha......

Personally, every couple of years I take some vacation time and just come up missing from the rest of the world. I have no intention of contacting anyone, and I have not been abducted. Part of my own mental maintenance program. I end up completely refreshed and I am in a good position to get back in touch with others. What is wrong with that? Well, it drives my parents nuts, but that is about it. What makes it illegal? Now if I made up a police report, the after action is clearly illegal.

Yes, it is weird that she went into a marsh, it may indiciate mental health problems, it may need to be followed up on via psychiatry work. However, I agree that filing a false police report is vey series, and potentially a hugh sentence can be imposed. In this case, I am not sure how much of the book I would throw at her.......

Well you were right on the money with this case.

Well, I don't want a prize.

I just put together a puzzle that had no other solution but some sort of mental illness.

I would like to see her charged so that she can be placed in the system. Wisconsin has a pretty good one, I have been told.

Her parents will not like it, but it is best for her. She needs intervention now.

Um, when your parents are supporting you in college, which isn't cheap, yes you do have a responsibility to at least THEM. Did she believe her parents wouldn't notify authorities when she was missing? She's supposedly a bright girl. She knew what would happen.

"She bought the items on Wednesday, the same day she was found."

covering her butt. So the question remains; where was she?

She's a very sick woman. Wanted attention and didn't think about the effect her so called abduction would have on her family and friends, let alone the rest of the town and the cops. She should have to repay the cost of the search by being assigned many hours of volunteer work with handicapped kids. She should also be put on probation and made to go to therapy.

The first person who found her said (before the cops told him to shut up), that she told him she liked to hang out in the marsh for relaxation and often did so.

OK.. as long as you apply that standard to all mentally ill (not legally insane) who commit crimes.

Why? Are all mental illnesses the same?

I heard the police chief talking about it on the radio a while ago. He sounded angry, said they'd called off the search for an abductor because he didn't exist. Also said there was never any sign of injury after the first so called attack, which they now believe was also faked. Maybe Audrey is coming down with schizophrenia...it often appears in young adults. If so, this is very, very sad. She and her family need a great many prayers.

My parents never supported me in college. I made my own way and I am an adult free to go where I want when I want. I keep in touch with them because I want to, not because of some obligation.

I am not saying that what she did wasn't unethical, I am saying that besides the false police report, what was illegal?
