A basic function of government is to protect our borders.

I agree. This could hurt him enough to loose. I really don't understand his facination with Mexico.
I have NO problem with folks comming to our country, If I lived somewhere else I would want to come here. But, the must come legally!

But, the[y] must come legally! Take a look at this thread and read Posts 26, 28, 30, 31, 37, 38 and 39 by hedgetrimmer. Things are not looking good for the U.S.

I thought that one of the selling points of NAFTA was that it would improve the conditions in Mexico and therefore reduce illegal immigration?
And what's with the air conditioned tents? Why not just a one-way ticket back?
Seems to me that if we had developed a national self-destruct plan, this would be one of the top items on it!

I thought that one of the selling points of NAFTA was that it would improve the conditions in Mexico and therefore reduce illegal immigration? The cruel reality is that the Bush and Fox administrations are indeed partners: They seek the amalgamation of our nations as part of a long-term design to create a hemisphere-wide superstate modeled on the European Union.* This is why the same Bush administration that was willing to wage a pre-emptive war against an entirely hypothetical threat from distant Iraq is permitting and even encouraging Mexico to continue its campaign of demographic warfare and cultural subversion against us.
NAFTA was step one. Any talk of Mexican economic improvement was simply a smokescreen. Step two is the FTAA.
Seems to me that if we had developed a national self-destruct plan, this would be one of the top items on it!
I would call the "amalgamation of our nations as part of a long-term design to create a hemisphere-wide superstate modeled on the European Union" the destruction of the USA, or at least of its national sovereignty. The elites in both parties are willing to see the US reduced to a Third World country so long as they can then rule it like the dictators of the banana republics can rule their countries . No more pretense that nonelites have rights, or that the constitution is in effect.

Shocked, shocked I tell you!
Of course that the subject complaining in the story is a 3rd generation Mexican-American makes it all "official" & "OK," eh?
...we're *overdue* for an awfully hard fall.

I have a real problem with partial Americans
Either you are an American or not. If you allegiance lies with another country then go home.

I got the distinct realization that Chris Cannon was out of touch with what is happening to Americans. He either does not understand this crisis or he is blind to its implications
OR He is guilty or treason. Aiding and abetting an invasion of our nation?

I don't think you could get the charges against all those like him to happen, even if they are warranted.

Probably not. The key still is to get the people to pay attention. For example, another issue discussed here is the right to keep and bear arms. In my state, no politician would survive re-election if he decided to infringe on these rights; Democrat or Republican. But that is because it is an issue that is near and dear to our hearts.
Unfortunately not many people keep up with what is going on at our southern border. If they did, maybe we would See some change; but much like the Trojan horse - it may be too late.

Our next priority after the radical muslims is to push the Mexicans back into the canal zone.
