It's long overdue that we do full scale tests again.
Nukes just don't age well, and now we have an untested stockpile. Much of our devices will need to be basically replaced over the next 15 years. So I think it's time we get going on this.

Los Alamos was built in a difficult place to get to, if you're approaching from the ground or by air assault during World War II.
Now, it is an easier target for a special assault by air.
There are many locations to air-drop onto and then move toward the town, take the necessary facilities and secure the airfield, and then move out with the prize.
It can be defended, but at much greater cost, than where the material is headed.
Not to mention that the area is a hotbed of socialists and the largest increase in mid-Eastern "ex-patriots" [we are told], who have "come for their health," who may be happy to help the bad guys.
Not to mention how many of them are the remnants or offspring of the "Spit on U.S. Troops" Generation.
