Sorry to disappoint, but no.
"Hey man, nice shot" is a song done by the group 'Filter' back in the 90's. It was about some politician being investigated for something that called a big press conference and then shot himself in the head in front of the cameras. Bud somthing-or-other. Anyway, the video was circulating around the internet. I was pointing out the similarities. Now leave me alone.

Romeo and Juliet.

Politician's name was Bud Dwyer. I think he was the PA State Treasurer.

Dick Hertz from Holden? How about Ray Pugh in Butte? Yes, I would be a tad bit skeptical myself.

Sorry I did not get your esoteric pop cultural reference. And, it was you who came into a thread that I started with your ambiguous crap.
So, you leave ME alone.

I did not visit it...I read the quote as posted. The story was in the NY Times and the NY Post.
Thanks for the block site.

Being a "troll from DU" is a pretty serious charge to level at somebody around here. While I may still be a little green around here, I would have to be a pretty patient troll to wait around for four months before I really started lashing out. In fact, it would be quite difficult to think that if you were to say, check out my comments that I have made in the past, to verify whether or not I was indeed a "troll from DU."
But then again, I could be THAT diabolical to come out of my troll closet with an obscure 'esoteric pop cultural reference' on a non-political morbid post to really crack some skulls here at FR. That would be the smart power play that only four or so months of planning could come up with.

Look: people post nasty, racist remarks to make us look bad. If you cannot see that what you posted as just that, then what can I say? Accusing you of being a DU troll is nowhere near as bad, IMO, as what you implied. What was confusing to me was the Christian sign in your tag...but I only noticed that afterwards.
And, I did not do anything more than check out your home page...the apparent nastiness of your remark about this poor soul ending his life spoke to me all by itself.
Would you have been so glib if a loved one of yours shot him or herself to death? Think about it...

Point taken. I guess that if you don't know what song I was referring to (which by the way, I can't get out of my head now) it would be a pretty harsh thing to say.

I remember the incident, but not the song. Thanks for your note.

"Young people have been killing themselves over break-ups, depression, and so on for eons."No doubt.I would hazard a guess however, that it has not been in the plague like proportions of today.
"It seems a stretch to take this one recent example as alleged evidence that "we've ended up with a society" that is "spiritually hollow"."
Alleged evidence? You don't think a person killing themselves over this is real and proper evidence of someone who is spiritually hollow?
As far as the society we've ended up with being spiritually hollow this is but one piece of the evidence obviously.I was making a broad statement that this case pointed to (which I think most on this thread would have understood).
For one such as yourself who appears to hold strongly to a naturalistic explaination of all things,I find it strange you would entertain the idea of a spiritual anything.

We all have felt like killing individuals at times of great confusion; even loved ones who are precious and dear to us.
Speak for yourself. And put down the Gerbers.

With poor people and African Americans especially, right when people are about to win and the battle is the fiercest but the opponent is on the ropes, people give up because we are overwhelmed by generations of inherited hopelessness.A new medical syndrome?
How do you account for the millions of African Americans who are extremely successful?
Peoples from other cultures who also have come from hopeless situations?

Shoan I've long been an advocate of good psycotherapy for black folks with issues. It would make my job much easier. However, I think you should just put down the reefers and get a grip!
