A guy in the crowd, wearing a Malcolm X ballcap, asked Kerry to explain the icon on his hat.

Kerry responded --- The Latin? The ten?

He then said something about the X man or X men.

It had to be explained to him that it was Malcolm X.

Kerry then went into pandering mode about what he knew about Malcolm X.

The clip was really funny, and there was laughing in the crowd.

Will this ever make the mainsteam?

He used it instead of his given last name of Little when he came out of prison. I did not see the movie and am not sure, but suspect he might have ditched the name and used the letter because the name came from a slave master.

I think this one is for real. I didn't hear Larry Elder play it today, but Hugh Hewitt played it several times. It's that drug-out Kerry voice.

It's actually even funnier, because the second "guess" he makes is a reference to X-Men. He gets Malcolm X on the third try, and then goes into political-babel, talking about how reading the biography had produced a profound effect on his life.

This clip is actually several months old. The rally took place during one of the primaries. It has been played several times since then. It falls into the "oldies but goodies" category!

This is one of the funniest Kerry stories that I have heard in a long time. Maybe you should send it to Juan Williams. He seems to be particularly sensitive to the Democrat mistreatment of Condeleeza Rice.

Some people can easily assume someone with an X on his cap is doing it because of Malcolm X when the negro baseball leagues had a team that used the X as well. If Kerry knew that then he could really impress :-)
