I think this is a jewel:
"it was his fear of the rabid conservatives who stalked him throughout his Presidency."
Conservatives are at fault - for pointing out the Toon's evildoing.
Rich.

Are you all really so lost in partisanship that you read this article as a criticism of Clinton? Clarke is saying that it was not Clinton's reluctance to use military power that kept him from attacking bin Laden more fiercely and more often, it was his fear of the rabid conservatives who stalked him throughout his Presidency.
The only person responsible for Clinton's indiscretions or any of his apallingly bad decisions is Clinton. If he was so afraid of or paralysed by his opposition then he had no business being President anyway.

Thanks for the ping and highlight!
:)
Nice to see a write up in a newspaper of why we need leaders we can respect.

I love it when somebody cuts and pastes a comment so I can see what's been deleted.
If the deluded soul were still around I'd point out that Clinton didn't earn our respect and support.

If George Bush did anything close to what Bill Clinton did, we'd demand he resign before any of you people knew what the real story was.Exactly. That's always the way with principled conservatives. We can't abide deceit and treachery and do not offer blind support.

What's more...impending legal action was a better predictor of military action than actual attacks were.
