Good luck to your nephew, and thank him for his service to America.

If Bush doesn't take strong action against Falljah and all its people, he loses my vote.

Simple as that!

And where is the world outrage?

Where?

I'll tell you where, they are saving it up for the time
when 30 or 40 thousand Americans are dead or dying and the
grief stricken enraged survivors drag muslims from their cars and string them up from the nearest trees.

Oh the howls of rage we'll hear! But not against those who struck a terrorist blow at US.

Sheeeesh... whata buncha crappola !!!

Bush has my vote no matter what he does with Fallujah....as long as he doesn't run.

Clinton ran from Mogadishu and desecrated the sacrifice made by those brave troops.

Bush is the only candidate who will take it to the enemy!

To avenge the dragging of dead Americans, including a woman, through the streets is long past due.

The neighborhood that it happened in needs to be taken down.

When civilians stand around smiling for photogs over dead Americans instead of running away from the scene in fear for their lives, you know something is wrong with the commanders on the ground.

And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shalt be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thou foe, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it

Circle the town, permit the women and children to leave.

Why?

After that PoS is dead and I take a dump on his grave, I hope he meets -those- SF folks. I imagine they'll have some questions for him.

Ahh, yes - the religion of peace and love strikes again.

I do have a solution to the problem. Alas, were I to describe it I would be banned. Pity.

Iraqis need to be taught respect:

When indendiary weapons were dropped on bunkers in Germany, the intense heat literally baked and dehydrated German World War II soldiers, giving rise to the German word "Bombenbrandschrumpfeichen," meaning "firebomb shrunken flesh." Allied bombers dropped an estimated 3.4 kilotons of incendiaries on the German city of Dresden. The attack on Dresden in February 1945 has always been a contentious issue because of the number of lives lost, the lateness of the war, and the cultural significance of the city. The city was a legitimate military target, and the allied air forces did attempt to precisely bomb the city's marshaling yards. In the Dresden bombing attacks of 14-15 February 1945, the American Eighth Air Force and the RAF Bomber Command together employed a total of 1,299 bomber aircraft (527 from the Eighth Air Force, 722 from the RAF Bomber Command) for a total weight, on targets, of 3906.9 tons. Of this tonnage, 1247.6 tons were expanded by the Eighth Air Force, 2659.3 tons by the RAF Bomber Command. The Americans employed 953.3 tons of high explosive bombs and 294.3 tons of incendiary bombs -- all aimed at the Dresden Marshalling Yards. The British employed 1477.7 tons of high explosive bombs and 1181.6 tons of incendiary bombs -- all aimed against the Dresden city area. Military records indicate that about half of the bombs that rained on Dresden were napalm bombs. The exact number of casualties from the Dresden bombings can never be firmly established. Most of the latest German post-war estimates are that about 25,000 persons were killed and about 30,000 were wounded, virtually all of these being casualties from the RAF incendiary attack of 13/14 February 1945. If opprobrium attaches to anyone, it should be Winston Churchill who specifically asked that east German cities be bombed to create refugees and spread havoc. Although Dresden was an unfortunate victim of circumstance, such was not the case for Berlin. The Allies placed the German capital in a different category, ordering attacks on "city center" and employing the maximum number of incendiary bombs.

I believe . . .

1) A DRAMATIC, VIVID STATEMENT MUST BE MADE--IT SEEMS TO BE THE ONLY THING SOME OF THEM UNDERSTAND.

2) We should mostly use Iraqi's to deal with the city.

3) We should reward sensible citizens of the city and incarcerate and level the homes of any significantly implicated in hostile attitudes and actions.

It MIGHT be worth emptying the city temporarily and searching every room. Quite a task. But it would make a big statement.

Let the whole city sleep in temporary tents etc. in uncomfortable contexts while the search was done.

Let them know we value our brother's lives individually as well as our . . . collective respect as a people and a nation.

The most distressing thing to me was the attitude of the young kids in the images.

It also seems to me that the response of the US Military (Air Force, Marines, and Army) is slow. Apparently, the resources are really dispersed and not ready for immediate deployment. To someone far from the operations area, it appears that we have stood down our ops for a variety of reasons. Consequently, our response is slow and perhaps not as effective.

In any event the people on the ground that are going to handle this deserve our support.

Nice.

Very nice.

Either cough up the bad guys or starve to death.

Nothing like a good solid ultimatum.

Well, moral issues aside it seems to me the best recent test case is the Israeli effort to reduce Palestinian attacks by collective punishments.

The Israelis have better intelligence than we can hope for in Iraq, and can react more quickly when the opportunity arises; in addition the Palestinians have a lot more reason to expect that the Israel will still be there a decade hence than the Iraqis have to expect the same of the US – one thing we can be pretty sure of is that the Israelis will not be pulling out of the Middle East.

The Israeli policy probably substantially reduces their casualties, but it does not stop attacks. And their appears to be little evidence that the people at on the receiving end of their efforts are "getting the message" - in fact, quite the opposite.
