I don't get their comment about being Christ centered and not God centered? Do you? So a lesbian who practices witchcraft and worships the goddess won't try to join and then sue for discrimmination.

Do you know what ages their program is for? My daugther will soon be 5, and I'd love for her to get involved in something like this.

I don't get their comment about being Christ centered and not God centered? Do you? So the druids, gaists, secularists, etc can't parse their charter and gradually chip away in the courts at the AHG like they are doing to the Boy Scouts and as they did the Girl Scouts.

American Heritage Girls: A growing option
When developing American Heritage Girls, we wanted to make sure that Christian values would remain at the core, Garibay said. We took the advice of my friends in the Boy Scouts, and we stay away from all government or United Way funding. [Editors note: About 60 United Way chapters have withdrawn support of the Boy Scouts over the Scouts refusal to allow homosexual troop leaders or members.]
We operate on a charter system, so that the chartering organization owns the troop. We charter to churches and Christian schools, so that the AHG troop operates just like any other ministry under their wing.
We require that all troop leaders sign a statement of faith, she added. But the girls who attend are not required to. All girls are welcome.
If you would like more information on American Heritage Girls, either on troops in your area or starting one at your church or Christian school, visit the American Heritage Girls Web site.

###I don't get their comment about being Christ centered and not God centered? Do you?###
There are philosophical entities that proclaim that God is everything (Christian Science; Church of Religious Science) and are religious entities ONLY for the Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)3 (exempt from income tax organization).
Many religions claim entities other than CHRIST as GOD. The one, holy, catholic and apostolic Roman Catholic Church believes in the TRINITY; GOD is CHRIST is HOLY SPIRIT is ONE. The Reformation refuted portions of the Catholic Canon. The Episcopalians (Catholic Light) resulted from the indiscretions of the English King Henry 8. Christians are in the SUPER minority as compared to ISLAM and other faiths.
It become necessary to very narrowly parameterize the American Heritage Girls faith as CHRIST based to create the distinction between the CHRISTIAN definition of God (Trinity) and the ISLAMIC, BUDDIST, JOSEPH SMITH, SCIENTOLOGY, CHRISTIAN SCIENCE or RELIGIOUS SCIENCE definition of GOD (which is everything from a chunk of dirt to Allah to everything (including Hitler!)).
The acceptance of a religion is related to where one is born and the culture in which one is raised. The Christian religion may be dominant in the USA but is relatively squat elsewhere.
Please do not shoot me if you do not understand. I can only assist in reaching an understanding; however I am unable to make anyone else understand. Ive been round the world a couple of times and have merely observed (Military and US Peace Corps).
Peace be with you.

THanks for your comment, I was responding as a Roman Catholic Christian who believes in the concept of the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I did not see why a group that wanted to be identified as Christian would separate the Son from the Father and promote that as a concept.

I hear ya. I've been blessed with two sons, no daughters, and have a soft spot for girls organizations as a result. I have a new option to designate as my company giving contribution now.
