What started as a local boycott of Girl Scout cookies in Waco, Texas, has blossomed into a nationwide investigation into the connection between the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood, the nations largest abortion provider.
At the same time, the Christian-based American Heritage Girls (AHG) is picking up new members and troop leaders thanks to the controversy.
We are Christ-centered, not God-centered, and that makes a huge difference, American Heritage Girls founder Patti Garibay told CWA. Just since the article in the March 22, 2004, USA Today, we have had 800,000 hits to our Web site, over 400 requests for information through the Internet, along with countless phone calls to our office, and we have been dealing with this issue for several weeks before that story ran.
Garibay added that AHG now has 2,800 girls enrolled and 450 volunteers across 22 states. Since this renewed attention on the Girl Scouts unwholesome alliances, Garibay says, Heritage has seen an increase in membership interest.
We have 25 pending troops right now, and in just two days we have sent out 15 information kits. Those kits, which begin the troop charter process, have to be purchased, so that indicates serious interest, she added.

I hope posts to this forum helped their efforts also.

Christ is the son of God the Father (Blessed Trinity?). God can be anyone or anything to anybody. Buddah, Allah, the Sun, etc. I hope this clarifies it.

If Christ-centered, they are specifically Christian. If they say God-centered, these days, "God" can be interpreted just about any way a person chooses.

You're simply going around in circles. Christ, too (especially if you view him as the Deity) can be (and often is) anyone or anything to anybody. His name has been invoked to justify acts of hatred, bigotry, malice and outright evil just as often as any other appellation by which the Almighty is known.

We've seen it in the Girl Scouts, various mainline churches, and other organizations

Yes, TO Christians.
This is a Christian organization. It is Christ centered. Nothing is generic with it. I lead GS. They are money grubbing and feminist. There is more envirormental crap in earning badges than charater building.
Not God the Earth, not God your body, God of the Christians is what is going on here.

I don't get their comment about being Christ centered and not God centered? Do you?Maybe they're making no apologies for being a Christian group? I suppose that if a group call's itself "G-d Centered," it might be referring to any monotheistic religion.

My sentiments exactly!
As a matter of fact, I was wondering as I started perusing these posts just how long it would take the militant lesbians / Socialists / secularists to infiltrate and take over and/or take down this new movement as they have apparently successfully done with the GS and about every other key American institution we can think of.
Just practice a little "diversity", "tolerance", and try not to "offend" anyone... and it will only be a matter of time.

Gee; I wonder what percentage of the proceeds from each box of GS Cookies goes directly (or indirectly so as to cover it's tracks) to the DNC?
Anyone wanna venture a guess?

I alwas object to the use of the word "stumble" in contexts like this. One stumbles by accident, by another's fault, or, at worst, through carelessness.
This was deliberate.
This was a "dive."

So you think we should all abandon our religion because wicked people abused it for their own ends? Your point is . . . ?

I suppose that if a group call's itself "G-d Centered," it might be referring to any monotheistic religion. Why limit it to monotheistic religions? You could have a pagan animistic "G_d centered" groups as well. The more the merrier!

So you think we should all abandon our religion because wicked people abused it for their own ends? Your point is . . . I don't know how you get that out of my observations. I'm simply bemused at the notion that some Christians see a distinction between God and Christ. I once overheard two young women looking at the nutrition label on a box of cookies. "Will you look at that!" one of them said. "Three hundred fifty calories and 36 grams of carbohydrates. So not only do you get all those carbohydrates, you get all those calories to boot!"
