One of the most controversial points of Clarke's book is his allegation that after 9-11, "The president dragged me into a room with a couple of other people, shut the door, and said, 'I want you to find whether Iraq did this.' Now he never said, 'Make it up.' But the entire conversation left me in absolutely no doubt that George Bush wanted me to come back with a report that said, 'Iraq did this.' He came back at me and said, 'Iraq! Saddam! Find out if there's a connection,' and in a very intimidating way."

Are we to believe Inspector Clarke had the crime solved within 2 days. Considering the evidence of ties between Iraq and al-Qadea, sounds logical to me for Bush to be asking these questions.

Here's another Clarke vs. Clarke contradiction:

On MTP: "Because during those two years when forces were diverted to Iraq... al-Qaeda has metamorphosized into a hydra-headed organization with cells that are operating autonomously, like the cells that operated in Madrid recently."

vs.

Clarke in his book recalling a 2001 conversation:
`Most people think of it as Usama bin Laden's group, but it's much more than that. It's a network of affiliated terrorist organizations with cells in over 50 countries, including the U.S.' Rice looked skeptical."

Not only that, but Saddam had reason to hate Bush because of his father and GW I. It would have been irresponsible NOT to investigate whether or not Iraq was behind, or otherwise involved in 9-11. At the very least I believe that Saddam gave bin Laden aid and comfort.

I identify with Clarke so much, and think that he has many valid points. Put the marketing of a "tell all" book aside. You must realize that this guy have been working on Moslem terrorism for 30 years. He is an expert in that field. Then this girl who can be his daughter’s age, who is still wet behind the ears comes in, and play boss. He pushes for a “scene of urgency” as the evidences are mounting on his desk, and she plays filter between him and the higher up. I have seen this happens in my own experience all the time. Hence his resentment/frustration is based on reality not on political motivation. The US government would function much better if the decision makers are real experts rather than politically correct appointees to meet window dressing appeal to the voters.

nah. Gore would be insisting that some right wing extremists flew those planes into buildings because right wing extremists hate America. Or he would be insisting that those planes all malfunctioned in such a way that the pilots were forced to fly those planes into buildings.
