MERRILLVILLE, Ind. -- Officials have banned pink clothing for the remainder of the school year out of concerns that the color has become associated with gang activity.
Administrators last week told students at the city's high school and two middle schools to avoid wearing pink clothing or accessories, said Michael Berta, associate superintendent in the Northwestern Indiana district.

Now they'll have to have
a lawsuit to sort out when
it's pink, when it's red . . .

Excuse my ignorance, but what kind of gang has pink for their color? The one driving the pink low riders......

I thought this must be totally bogus, but I looked up Merrillville on Mapblast and there is such a place. Heaven help us.

But because of the growing use of the color pink we decided to be proactive.I don't blame the school officials for taking this action. After last year's violent clashes between the "Silver Taupe" and "Mauve Mist" gangs, it's best not to take any chances.

Here's hoping the school mysteriously gets painted pink. Pink Panther footprints leading to the principal's door would be a nice touch too.

Do you have to be stupid to become a school administrator?
Or is it just part of the on the job training?

Do you have to be stupid to become a school administrator? It takes a village idiot to raise a child.

In many ways, kids don't get as much freedom to have fun as they did when I was their age.
But there is no doubt that they have opportunities to prank the school authorities in wasy we could never dream of.......

My 4 year old daughter insists on wearing pink nearly every day. Most of her wardrobe is pink. Barbie & Pink are back in style!

I would encourage all young ladies to:
Wear pink:
* lipstick
* nail polish
* barrettes
Use pink:
* pens
* stationary
* binders
* book covers
* lunch bags
Also, make them define pink. It depends what "pink" is. Pink-almost white? Pink-almost red? How about coral? How much pink is objectionable? One stripe? One pink flower?
This could teach the kids a good lesson on stupidity.

What a jerk.
GOSH! Better not let them wear jeans, either! Blue denim is frewuently worn by students! It must mean something!
