Contact: John Feehery or Pete Jeffries, both of Office of Speaker of the House of U.S. House of Representatives, 202-225-2800, Web: http://www.speaker.gov WASHINGTON, March 30 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following is a joint statement by Speaker J. Dennis Hastert and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist regarding public testimony of National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice Before the 9/11 Commission:

"We applaud the decision of the President to allow the National Security Advisor, Dr. Condoleezza Rice, to testify before the 9/11 Commission. This is a unique event given the extraordinary nature of Sept. 11, 2001. We do not believe Dr. Rice's testimony, before an independent commission, should be seen as setting any precedent, and it should not be cited as setting precedent for future requests for a National Security Advisor or any other White House official to testify before a legislative body."

Sigh. May it be so.

But it still sounds like,

"I know I told Bobby-Ted that he could not have them Goobers; and I said no and no and no; but now that he's hollered and wailed and stomped his feet all the way from Frozen Vegetables to Condiments, I am going to say Yes to Goobers... but it should be understood that it is only this one time, in view of the extraordinary circumstances."

Our Democrat brothers and sisters are going to regret this. Dr. Rice is going to mop the floor with them. But even if Dr. Rice completely blows her public testimony before the committee, what the public will see is ten white guys beating up a black women. It will be Clarence Thomas or Ollie North all over again. Images speak louder than words.

She simply cannot lose.

It will be interesting to see of Charles Wangle or Maxine Waters come out in Condi's defense! Don't hold your breath, however. They like to defend the terrorists such as Aristede.....

STOP THE TAPE!!

"We applaud the decision of the President to allow the National Security Advisor, Dr. Condoleezza Rice, to testify before the 9/11 Commission.

"We don't dare defy the will of our democrat masters, or the international press in this, or any other issue that jeapordizes the lives of US troops abroad."

This is a unique event given the extraordinary nature of Sept. 11, 2001.

"Hey, the sheep have forgotten about 9-11, why should we keep messing with our re-election chances by bringing it up?"

We do not believe Dr. Rice's testimony, before an independent commission, should be seen as setting any precedent

"You think they'll buy that, Denny?" "They ought to, they read the Times, don't they?"

and it should not be cited as setting precedent for future requests for a National Security Advisor or any other White House official to testify before a legislative body."

"Even though, from now on, every member of a Republican administration will be Borked until their keisters fall off..."

This appears to be another example of the Bush Administration pulling a rope-a-dope on the 9/11 commission. Here they were trying to catch Dr. Rice in a contradiction (they would have about as much chance of catching an incoming asteroid with an outfielder's mitt), and they will compromise their impartiality. Remember when the cry went out for Lt. Col Oliver North to testify before the Iran-Contra hearings? When Ollie did appear and speak, it was too late for a do-over.

If anybody missed the real motives of the 9/11 Commission, there won't be any question now. And don't worry, fellows, that egg will eventually scrub off your faces.
