Newbie question: I'm brand spanking new to this site and have run into two puzzling things -- what does "ping" and "bump" mean?

A ping is when someone posts to you to bring your attention or call you over to a particular thread.
A bump, I think, is just a way of agreeing with another posters comments. (I just came away from my newbie status myself...made a year in January)

A bump or BTTT (bump to the top) means you want the thread to be brought back to the top of the most recent posts screen. It is a way of getting more exposure for the thread.
