CLEARWATER, Florida (AP) -- A severely brain-damaged woman at the center of a right-to-die case was hospitalized after workers at her nursing home noticed puncture wounds on her arms apparently caused by a hypodermic needle, an attorney for the woman's husband said.
Terri Schiavo was taken to the emergency room at Morton Plant Hospital Monday night for toxicology testing and other blood work, the lawyer said.
Authorities were called to the nursing home by Michael Schiavo and are investigating, said police spokesman Wayne Shelor.
Officials at the nursing home where Schiavo stays would not say whether she returned, and a hospital official said early Tuesday that no one with her name had been admitted.
George Felos, the attorney representing Michael Schiavo, said the wounds appeared to have been caused by a hypodermic needle, and a needle cap was found in Schiavo's gown, he said.
An aide discovered the marks Monday at the assisted living home after a 45-minute visit by her parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, Felos said.
"It appears that someone was either trying to inject Terri Schiavo with something or withdraw fluids from her," Felos said.
Terri Schiavo's father, Bob Schindler, told WTSP-TV in Tampa that nothing was wrong with his daughter when he left Monday afternoon. He said he did not insert a needle into his daughter's arms.
Terri Schiavo, 40, has been in a persistent vegetative state for 14 years. Schiavo's husband says she once told him she would not want to be on life support; her parents say otherwise.
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/South/03/30/brain.damaged.woman.ap/index.html Michael Schiavo won a court order to remove a feeding tube in October, but the state Legislature quickly passed a law that allowed the governor to order the tube reinserted.
Michael Schiavo claimed the law was unconstitutional and has sued the governor

Michael is the SOLE GUARDIAN. He's the only person who can shut the door unsupervised and do whatever. He could have staged this whole puncture episode. The Schindlers just want her out from under his control. HE IS EVIL AND SO'S ATTORNEY FELOS. There's nothing civil about his matter. It's good vs. evil.

I simply can't understand why Michael loathes her, and because he does, doesn't just cut his losses and move on with his own life (with Jodi and children). Two reasons - MONEY and CONTROL

What happened with that investigation as to her treatment by the Federal agency that is supposed to oversee the treatment of diabled patients? I can't remember the agency name, only that there was much hope they would be helpful. It was intiated months ago but I can't recall reading about any report of their findings.

Thanks. I did a search but couldn't find anything. Bookmarked.

FYI: There are some "save Terri" web sites that actually have their own agenda. There are some save Terri sites that are associated with husband Michael. How's that for trickery?

"THIS IS A PRECEDENT SETTING CASE. That's why in addition to helping Terri, we will not tire or falter on the BIG PICTURE"
You got it. This case is for all the marbles.
The death merchants are in this fight to the end. They will not let up until euthanasia is mainstreamed and routine. We're fighting against wicked forces indeed, but we're not alone in our effort. Thankfully.

Michael Schiavo has ordered that his wife will have no visitors until the police complete their investigation.
Isn't that special? Now the police can take their sweet time and not take phone calls from THE PUBLIC for an unspecified length of time. That means, now the Schindlers have been ordered that they CANNOT see Terri nor can anyone else, except Michael of course who has unfettered access to abuse Terri. MICHAEL'S ORDERS. Why does this CREEPY JERK have SOLE AUTHORITY over an innocent woman?

Newbie question: I'm brand spanking new to this site and have run into two puzzling things -- what does "ping" and "bump" mean?

No doubt the Schiavos have some real doctors on their team, but they've also gotten some quacks on board a couple of timesYou're absolutely right.
The parent's star "doctor" is a quack published in the scholarly, peer-reviewed National Enquirer. This "Doctor" Hammesfahr has been found guilty by the State of Florida of "exercising influence on the patient in such a manner as to exploit the patient for financial gain" His sentence included fine, probation, supervision, court costs, community service, ethics education, monthly review
The fine and court courts were in excess of $54,000. (See page 16)
Of course, the Schindlers have been victimized also by alternative-medicine New-Age quacks.
Family reveals secret therapy sessions
Beginning in late November last year and continuing until the end of February, Terri received daily, hour-long therapy sessions by telephone with company president Dr. Joe Champion or one of his therapists.
Doctor Champion is the president of the Galaxy Wave Group. After you wade through the crap advertised in the Galaxy Wave webpage, you come across this little disclaimer at the very bottom: The scientists at Galaxy Wave Group are not medical doctors.

A ping is when someone posts to you to bring your attention or call you over to a particular thread.
A bump, I think, is just a way of agreeing with another posters comments. (I just came away from my newbie status myself...made a year in January)
To: Poohbah
www.terrisfight.org. But, you're said they were quacks. The web site didn't.

A bump is to bump the thread up in the posting list so that it stays where more people can see it and respond.
To: Poohbah
The one therapy involved Terri listening to the therapist from Texas calling long distance. Terri responds to voices on the phone and to music which proves that she's not PVS. When the Texas therapist told Terri they were going to kill her if she didn't start moving, she started moving. She's motivated to live and they're motivated to kill her.
If she doesn't get the rehab and care she needs, she's not going to benefit. Are you against Terri's right to live or just criticizing her parents?

Schiavo's husband issued orders denying visits by anyone until the police investigation is complete. That's all I need to know. The HINO strikes again.

Sounds like a HINO wag the dog incident. This is supposed to divert our attention from his being charged with contempt of court. This is the most frightening case imaginable. Terri is so vulnerable.
