Sharon son told to submit files
Sharon answered police questions for more than six hours in October Israel's highest court has told Ariel Sharon's younger son, Gilad, to release files police say could show corruption. Israeli police are investigating allegations that Mr Sharon accepted illegal contributions in his 1999 campaign to lead the Likud party.
Mr Sharon denies wrongdoing and has said he will co-operate with police.
But sons Gilad and Omri, who managed his victorious party leadership campaign, have refused to answer police questions about the affair.
The two men are known to have accepted about $1.5m from a friend of the prime minister's, South African businessman Cyril Kern.

I read this in my paper this morning.
IF "timing" is everything, this one stinks.

Here is the gist of the story. What is alleged is that this financier wanted to get things smoothed over by the government to make way for an island casino he wanted to build. Rules would have to be changed, actions would have to be taken. So, he met with Sharon, then hatched a plan to bribe Sharon by paying a deep 6 figures "consulting" salary to Sharon's son, who would not be required to do anything for it.
Who knows if this is true or not, but that is what the meat of the story is all about.

Please include original titles. Articles from December 2003 are not breaking news.

Thank you.
That's exactly the story published
in the San Diego U-T this morning.
Reportedly, Sharon's son has some
documents and tapes they want. Good luck.

It may or may not be genuine corruption. But the judges and the legal establishment in Israel have a long history of one-sided harassment of conservative politicians. All I know is what I read in the papers, but to me it looks as if the Israeli courts are even more politicized than ours.
