Harris County District Attorney Chuck Rosenthal is a stand up guy and I am sure they don't have some flimsy charges here. Rosenthal is a Republican, white and has a good reputation. Murphy is African American and is (or was) one of the most loved celebrity in Houston.
Rosenthal's career is on the line if he were to get this one wrong.

Murphy was a high school star at Norwalk, CT.... I was afraid he was to be a star from West Virginia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, or Texas. It appears to me that the "educated uppidy" states have just as much trouble with incest and child molestation as the rest of the country.

Calvin was terrific talent, and the toughest little player I've ever seen. Murph, Murph, king of the earth, in his Niagra days. Damn shame when your childhood (at least teenhood) idols fall.

That's a little below league average, I think.
LOL-LOL-LOL

Very, very disappointing. Calvin was terrific talent, and the toughest little player I've ever seen. I agree... very disappointing... Calvin changed the college game -- never saw anything like him (and I saw some of the best).

If convicted, Murphy faces five years to life in prison for the aggravated offenses and two to 20 years for the others, Long said Death is the only appropriate penalty. Alteratively life in prison, but he must be physically castrated (NO chemical castration, which can be bypassed).

Must be something in the Sugarland water. First Jon Mathews, now Calvin. Sugarland's own Tom Delay is about to be indicted as well, for absurdly trivial charges. This would be a massive tragedy for the GOP.

Unbelievable. First Jon Matthews, now Calvin Murphy. I don't know what to believe in either case.

The Rockets said Murphy asked for and received a leave of absence from his broadcasting duties. Like they had a choice.

I remember the Boys Ranch fiasco. And (when I lived there), it was hard to miss story after story of the rotting rats nest that DSHS is. And, I recall that Gov. Locke was going to "fix it." Yeah, sure....that man couldn't (or wouldn't) fix a flat tire if his life depended on it.

These 5 children are by 3 different women, with a total of 14 children? I agree that it is an awfully long time to bring this up, if true... I thought I heard that he has 11 kids, from 9 women?
Where is this documented?
To: TheSpottedOwl
You're right. I found the article.
http://cbs.sportsline.com/nba/story/7217387
14 kids, 3 wives.
But I don't think the 3 wives produced all 14 kids? Would be interesting to confirm how many different mothers, not just wives.
To: truthandlife
Allegedly he has 14 children by 9 women. Is that an NBA record? How many of these women had he married?
