I would love for toon to testify, right after someone submits his recording where he says he couldn't take OBL from Sudan because he didn't have anything to hold him on. That would be priceless.

Check this out, folks. It's the preface to Toon's final report on National Security Strategy that was put out in December 1999.

Does anyone see anything about Al Qaeda or terrorism in it?

The link, BTW, is mention in John Lewis Gaddis' new book Surprise, Security, and the American Experience. I recommend the book. It's the best defense I've ever read for what the Bush admin is doing, and the best explanation for why Toon's was such an utter failure.

The purpose of the 9/11 commission was to find a way to blame Bush for the September 11 attacks.

Benveniste and Gorelick are proof of that. I don't understand why the administration didn't raise any objections to their participation. Kissinger had to bow out because of conflicts. Apparently the same rule doesn't apply to our side of the aisle.

"Under Oath" doesn't mean anything to those two.

I know Condi is more than able to take care of herself, but I still think the image in most people's minds is a bunch of pushy big guys picking on a woman. I would've thought Kerry, in particular, would try to avoid giving that impression. It should be a particularly evocative image for the Left (but probably isn't).

Kissinger can still testify. Right after Toon left, Kissinger published a book called Does America Need a Foreign Policy? Toward a Diplomacy for the Twenty-First Century. Gee, wonder why?

Here is another question .. wasn't this commission suppose to be wrapping things till they complained to Bush to extend their time? .. Why haven't Clinton, and Gore already been scheduled to be interviewed? Why is the 9/11 commission dragging their feet and dragging this out?

"I find it interesting, this is the same commission, that Democrats like Botox Pelosi and Schmuck Schumer were saying "this commission is unfair", yet when the ball started rolling, it looked more and more like a Democrat "smear and attack" machine."

Rocky's LEAKED MEMO gives us the "ROAD MAP" exposing the well plotted and researched plan these liberal "gods" are using to "destroy" President Bush's strength, his credibility.

In so doing these lying crooked liberals have become the "political" arm of "terrorists inc."

The one last thing they "require" which Clarke's world wide invitation gave before the world last week is another attack.

This bunch have become the front and center of the parties of EVIL!

With everything that's out in print, they're gonna have an impossible time doing that. They'll take themselves down trying, though. Fine by me.

The commission was supposed to start at a later date, the Democrats complained, and then the Republicans decided to let it start when it was planned. I don't know why Clinton and Gore haven't been scheduled, I do know the commission wants to talk to Bush himself. The commission wants to drag their feet and drag Condi Rice out because this commission is nothing more than a bunch of hardlined liberals and spineless Republicans, in hopes of tearing down the Bush administration to make way for a Kerry presidency.

The fact that the Democrats wanted to start early won't affect the elections as much as they'd like to hope. By November, this commission will be nothing but a footnote in history as one of the biggest blunders of the Liberal establishment.

Question: WAS or WAS NOT Rice's 4-hour private under oath?

I've heard it both ways--that she was and that she was not sworn in.

Is there a definitive source for this?

All the Dems have been saying she was not under oath.

If her private testimony was under oath, that would go a long way in quelling the Dems' whining. But if she was not, they may have a point in wanting her to answer questions under oath.

I've heard many different stories. From her side, she was giving sworn testimony behind closed doors for 4 hours (I suspect because of the nature of the testimony), the liberal media said she's refused to testify, or the liberal media has said the White House refuses to turn her over, while she said to the liberal media that she'd welcome the chance to testify in public.

Why is the 9/11 commission dragging their feet and dragging this out?

Last night Drudge said Woodward has a book coming out in two weeks that is supposed to be more explosive than Clark's. It's published by the same company that published the Clark book. That's probably what they're waiting for -- drag it out until CBS can run another 60 minutes hit piece hawking Woodward's book.

Oh ok .. I was thinking they wanted to extend the hearings and Hassert orginally said no

Extend the length of the hearings, yes. The Democrats wanted to start early, while the Republicans wanted to shift the start time down the path, 2 months. The Democrats complained and then the Republicans decided not to shift the start to a later date but to start at the time it was supposed to.

Going back, I can remember the Democrats wanted to start this investigation back in the fall/winter of 2002. To give this investigation a wider scope: 9/11 and the Iraq War. For the Democrats, it's all been about politicizing 9/11 and the Iraq War.
