I happened to be in the Marines when the switch was made from c-rats to MREs (early '80s). I never thought I would miss c-rats soooooo much. The heat tabs, the P-38s, the HOT coffee in the field.... Just open the can and eat. Mmmmm-mmm.

I remember white bread and butter in my c's.

MRE's took a little bit of getting use to.

But their saving grace was no ham and lime beans (no i refuse to dignify that meal with the slang term for it)
